We often think that there is only one romantic soulmate out there for us and we take great pains to meet this person. However, a person actually makes the best soulmate for us when we choose to be with them after getting to know all sides of them, warts and all.
Realistically speaking, there are multiple soulmates out there whom we can have an awesome connection with if we put in the work!
It helps if we get to know someone without being invested in and attached to the outcome of dating this person. Thinking too far in the future can result in you feeling that nobody is good enough for you.
It’s important to be sober when dating. Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant. It can take away your nervous anxiety as well as your rational concerns, perhaps leading you to lower your standards.
Do not date people who you know are not right for you but who have “potential”. Your love is not going to change them. Whatever they are doing now that is not desirable is going to stay the same and likely get worse.
Focus on being the right partner rather than on finding the right partner. If your date allows you to feel at your best and that you have a lot to offer, that may be worth looking into. Moreover, you want the person who shows up for you and who consistently befriends you, through thick and thin, not someone who turns tail at the first hint of trouble.
If you are not interested in a date, be honest but tactful. It can be as easy as sending a text saying “It was nice to get to know you, but I don’t think we’re quite right for each other. Best of luck!”
Simple guidelines like these can help you to navigate your way through the dating world.
