FAQ (Interview with Marilyn)
How long have you had Perfect Strangers and how did you start?
Perfect Strangers was founded in 1997 by a friend of mine in Johannesburg. In October of that year she asked me to open the Pretoria branch, which I did, and I took to it like a duck to water, and have never looked back.
She, however, did not enjoy doing it, and closed the Johannesburg branch down a year or two later. So there is only a Pretoria branch at present.
How has Perfect Strangers evolved over the years?
A defining moment in my life was in April 2007. My beloved husband, Bryan had passed away 18 months before and I was alone and single, struggling to bring my 10 year old business to the place I wanted it to be. I have always had a passion for people, and have been totally dedicated to my dating service, Perfect Strangers, from day one.
At that point, I had had a fair measure of success in attracting decent quality clients to introduce to each other, but I still felt I could attract still more and better quality people for my clients to choose from. I had tried (I thought) every avenue of achieving this, but seemed to be up against a brick wall. I felt totally frustrated and disappointed that I was not (I felt) offering my clients the best there was to offer. There had to be some way of attracting more upmarket singles.
One night as I sat alone in my home, I had a vision for myself and for all single people out there, which I would like to share with you:
I dreamed of where humanity came from, and where we're heading. I saw a vision of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and the Fall. But most importantly, I had a vision of our Return to Paradise. Aside from other developments in the world, we all want to meet our very own unique soulmate. These are the Last Days. This is the Age of Aquarius, the Age of Mind and Quantum Physics.
Quantum Physics says we can do anything, go anywhere and be anything we wish. I dreamed that we would push away all barriers to the mind and that we would all achieve the things we dreamed of. From Creation through the Fall to Now, the Universe is creating not one, but many Adams and Eves in a Paradise that the world is becoming.
I dreamed that each and everyone of us could have his/her own perfect soulmate, and that it was my life's purpose, through Perfect Strangers, to bring all these soulmates together !
There and then I decided to start thinking differently about how I could provide more and better opportunities for my clients to meet their soulmates. I visualized attracting super quality singles in large numbers, because then my clients would not only meet their own kind of people, but they would have a big variety out of which they could choose "the special one", which my market research shows is what they really want.
I also worked on becoming a better person in every way myself, because like attracts like, and the better person I was, the better people I could attract as clients into my business.
Over the months I noticed that this strategy was working, because I was starting to attract really stunning men and women into Perfect Strangers. Slowly but surely, the universe started bringing it together for me.
People crossed my path who helped me attract more people than I could ever have dreamed possible into Perfect Strangers. New avenues opened up to me of attracting even better quality people as well. Up to today, I am continually upgrading Perfect Strangers and ensuring that more and more of only the best people join.
I have since made a commitment to dedicate the rest of my professional life to connecting soulmates through Perfect Strangers. It is a calling which brings me much satisfaction, and most importantly of all, my clients' lives change significantly for the better, because they all meet a good selection of quality partners and many, indeed, meet the soulmate of their dreams.
Who are your clients?
My clients are single professionals, busy executives and successful entrepeneurs who do not have the time to look for partners on their own, so I dedicate my time and expertise to providing them with a good selection of quality partners out of which they can choose a soulmate.
How are you different from other dating services?
What separates my service from other dating services and internet dating is that I screen my clients absolutely thoroughly and get to know them extremely well, including their unique personal preferences. Therefore my clients are all of a good calibre, and they get better matching every time.
What type of person do you work best with and what is expected of me?
I work best with busy professionals, executives and successful entrepeneurs, who are not desperate or in a hurry, and who are open-minded. Someone who is committed to the process of meeting a selection of quality singles will get the best value out of this service.
What type of person is Perfect Strangers NOT going to work for?
Someone who is desperate or in a hurry will find that potential partners flee, no matter where or through whom they meet them. If you are super critical, you will find fault with me and the prospective partners I introduce to you, like you find fault with everyone in general.
If you are overweight, this will also not work for you, as all my clients look after their figures and want to meet like-minded partners.
What does your membership offer and how will we work together?
Once you have joined, we immediately start the ball rolling for you to meet some prospective partners, so that you can enlarge your circle of friends and meet the soulmate of your dreams.
During your membership, I maintain consistent telephonic contact with you. You, as a client, get a lot of personal attention, and I take special care that you meet partners according to your specific preferences.
After meeting with prospective partners, you will be expected to provide me with detailed feedback, so that I can make even better selections for you in future.
Does this really work?
Indeed it does. Over the years I have had many satisfied customers, whose lives change from lonely and boring to getting out and about, meeting new people, visiting exciting places, and most importantly, they have a variety of quality partners from whom they can choose a soulmate much sooner than if they would try meeting people another way or on their own. What results can I expect and how quickly?
Perfect Strangers delivers results by arranging between 70 and 80 introductions every week. So within a day or two you can start meeting some prospective partners.
Within a month or two you can make some good friends, and many go on to meet the soulmate of their dreams.
Can I contact some of your former clients to see what it's like to work with you?
Most certainly you can. Go to the Client Testimonials section of the website and select whom you would like to talk to and phone me for their telephone number(s).
How long is the membership?
The membership lasts for a year. This gives you sufficient time to meet a variety of suitable partners from whom you can choose a soulmate.
Should you need to put your membership on hold for a period (eg. you go away somewhere for a month or two, you start a relationship which lasts a couple of months, but it ends), you can always come back and resume your membership without too much harm being done. In exceptional cases, I may extend your membership period.
Can I re-join?
Most certainly you can. The members who do not find their soulmate quickly, enjoy the fun of being a member and meeting all my decent, good quality people so much, that they often rejoin. I can give you an example of a pilot who joined three years in a row. He kept on saying to me: "Marilyn, you are introducing such wonderful ladies to me. Please keep on doing what you are doing. I just know I'll meet the girl of my dreams through you. In the meantime I am having a lot of fun and making some good friends." During the third year I introduced him to "the special one" and they married soon after. They are still happily married today.
I don't have much time to spare. How much time do I need?
Perfect Strangers saves you time, as you don't have to go and look somewhere to meet partners and I do all the screening for you. I literally hand you your "date on a plate"!
You only need to phone your partner to arrange the date, and show up at the venue you have agreed on.
